S.A. Daynard's short stories have appeared in print in various publications. Her story “The Good Samaritan” received good reviews by both William D. Bushnell for The Times Record and on-line critic Kevin Tipple. In Mr. Bushnell's article, he chose “The Good Samaritan” as a stand out calling it "by far the creepiest and most chilling, with a serial killer no one would ever suspect".

Her very,very short story, “Widow’s Peak” received a Derringer nomination for Best Flash of 2004.
